Vancouver Filipino SDA Church Awaits New Pastor
Church members have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new pastor in the person of Pastor Levi J. Estores, former president of the Western Visayan Conference in the Philippines. He is expected to arrive in a few weeks. Let us continue praying for him, his family and his ministry.

Welcome Back!
September 28, 2008. After being away for a few weeks, we are glad to welcome back our first elder Ed Flores and his wife Sister Monet. Also we extend our welcome to Brother Efren Flores and his wife Sister Vita. Not to forget Sister Nena Solas. All of them have been recently to the Philippines in the event of their recently departed beloved. The Flores family lost their mother, and Sister Nena her husband. We also extend our deepest condolences to them and their families. May God soothe your pains and comfort your sorrows.
A welcoming party greeted Elder Ed and sister Monet at the church basement after their arrival today. The seniors sang two songs for them and so did an impromptu group. Elder Ed and Sister Monet gave separate speeches. All in attendance were filled with the food, updates from the Philippines, and fellowship.

Prequel to a Major Fundraiser
With major mission projects already in the plans for the coming years, the church is looking into a number of possible fundraising activities. A group of enthusiastic members assembled at the church front, Sunday, September 7, 2008, to visit a blueberry farm in Aldergrove and harvest its azure fruits that could later be resold as a major source of funds. With the Dezas leading and First Elder Ed Flores and his wife Monet, along with Elder Mirriam dela Cruz, Elder Ed Subade, Elder Joel Batulayan and family and other church members, the group spent under two hours under the summer sun picking blueberries. The group also enjoyed the picnic that followed. Overall it was a wonderful experience for everyone from the youngest to the elderly.

Children's Preaching Hour
September 6, 2008 unveiled to the Vancouver congregation and all those in attendance during the Hour of Worship once more that "a little child shall lead them". Under the direction of Sister Ching Pedernal and her associates, the Adventurers, Pathfinders, and other Deer Lake School students presented "What a Faithful God We Have". Awe-inspiring, heart-warming, and practical were the messages delivered in speeches, songs, and skit. Let us be faithful to Him and to one another as He has been always faithful to us!
